The Motor House is a way of working, not a building. It is the most complete relationship Davey & Daughters offers: retained oversight of a collection complicated by scale, geography, projects or family, run the way a private office runs anything that matters, with records, budgets, reporting and one person accountable for all of it.
Who it is for
Owners and families with cars across several homes or storage locations. International owners with cars in, entering or leaving the UK. Collections with several projects running at once. Families and their offices who have inherited significant cars and need order before decisions. Anyone for whom the honest job title of the person they need is not "car finder" but "head of the motor house."
Governance and reporting
Every car, location, supplier, cost and project is documented and reported on a cadence agreed with you, in a format your family office or advisers can actually use. Decisions get owners and deadlines. Projects get scopes, budgets and progress reviews rather than momentum. Nothing proceeds on a nod.
Across locations and borders
Movement between properties and countries is planned and coordinated: transport, customs, registration, insurance liaison and arrival readiness at the other end. Sourcing and disposal run internationally through the same buyer-side discipline as everything else in this business.
Inherited collections and succession
When a collection changes hands, the pressure to act quickly is usually the enemy. The Motor House establishes what exists, what it is, what it is worth, and what it costs to hold, before anything is moved, restored or sold. Alex works alongside the family's solicitors, tax advisers and valuers, and stays strictly on the practical automotive side of that line.
Discretion
Client identities, holdings, locations and movements are not discussed, published or hinted at. Case material is published only with written consent and heavy anonymisation. The Privacy Notice sets out how information is handled; the engagement terms make confidentiality contractual.
What it does not include
Legal, tax, regulated financial or insurance advice; Alex coordinates with your qualified advisers and makes introductions only. Valuation certificates, which come from qualified valuers. Premises: no storage, workshop or fleet is owned, and every physical service is delivered by named-category specialist partners under oversight.
The commercial approach
A retained relationship, monthly or annual, agreed privately after an initial review of the collection and the workload, with availability and reporting defined in writing. Projects and third-party costs are separate and pre-approved. Details on the Fees page.
Questions about The Motor House
Is this a storage or concierge facility?
No. It is oversight and coordination. The facilities involved are chosen for each car and each location, and answer to Alex on your behalf.
Can you work with our family office?
Yes. Reporting slots into your existing cadence, and Alex is comfortable being one of several advisers around a table.
What does "retained" actually commit us to?
A defined scope, a defined cadence and a notice period, all in writing. Not a lock-in.
We may need less than this.
Then The Stables is probably the answer, and it is a shorter conversation. You will not be sold upwards.
A 997 Turbo, bought in England and delivered to me in the Emirates without a single unpleasant surprise. Alex inspected it, handled the money and the freight, and told me plainly which of the cars I was chasing to leave alone. The one he approved is the one I kept.
Mr Rupert Campbell-Scott, DubaiOne accountable person for all of it
For collections that span homes, countries or generations. The first conversation is private and without obligation.
