Everything around the cars

This page is the honest map. It shows the full range of what Davey & Daughters handles around significant cars, and, just as importantly, who actually does each piece of it. Three labels are used throughout. Alex advises: his own judgement and analysis. Alex coordinates: work delivered by specialist partners he selects, briefs and oversees. Introduction only: regulated or professional services where the right move is to connect you with qualified providers and step back.

The whole ownership lifecycle on one chart. Everything below sits somewhere on this route.

Advise

Collection strategy: what the collection is for, what belongs in it, what to buy, keep, improve, pause or sell. Market and valuation context before any commitment. Reviews of cars you have found. Restoration and improvement decisions, including the unfashionable advice that some cars should be left exactly as they are. Sale and exit timing, and which route (private, dealer, auction) actually suits the car.

Alex advises.

Acquire

Search and shortlist across the UK, Europe, Japan and the US. Seller enquiries and advert interrogation. Provenance, history and registration checks. Inspection commissioning with independent marque specialists. Negotiation and purchase coordination. Import and export, with customs and registration handled through specialist agents. Transport to wherever the car lives next.

Alex advises and coordinates; inspections, shipping and customs work are partner-delivered.

Organise

The car's file: history, invoices, photographs, specifications, keys and quirks, kept current and kept yours. Renewals, MOTs, registrations and the administrative calendar. Transport booking and movement planning. Storage placement with vetted facilities, matched to the car and location. Budgets, supplier coordination and cost reporting for clients who want the numbers watched.

Alex coordinates; facilities and transporters are specialist partners.

Preserve

Servicing and preventative maintenance placed with the right marque specialists and tracked. Restoration and improvement projects scoped, budgeted and governed rather than merely begun. Detailing, paint correction and protection placed and quality-checked. Security, tracking and storage-condition improvements coordinated. Preparation for events, touring and driving seasons, so the cars are ready when asked.

Alex coordinates; the physical work is partner-delivered.

Introductions only

Insurance, finance, legal and tax matters belong with regulated and qualified providers. Where useful, Alex introduces you to specialists who understand significant cars, and any referral arrangement is disclosed before you act. He does not advise on regulated products, and will say so whenever a question crosses that line.

The six stages, briefly

Plan, Find, Buy, Keep, Enjoy, Sell. Every capability above serves one of those six moments. If you can name the stage, the right starting point is usually obvious: a defined job is The Garage, standing care is The Stables, and complexity is The Motor House.

How partners are chosen

Not from a directory. Partners earn their place through work Alex has seen, checked and would stand behind, and they keep it by being accountable on every job. Names are not published, partly for their commercial privacy and partly because the vetting is the product. What you get is simpler: one point of contact, and one person answerable if anything is not right.

What is never claimed

No owned storage, workshops, transporters or inspection facilities. No stock. No selling mandate from anyone. No regulated advice. If a capability on this page ever stops being true, it comes off the page.

If you can name the stage, Alex can take it from there

Describe the situation and he will suggest the shape, whether that is a single job or a standing relationship.
