A dusty green Range Rover Classic in a barn

Entry product

Found a car? Let Alex try to talk you out of it first.

If it survives the scrutiny, it is probably worth buying. That is the point.

Deal Review is a fixed-scope, buyer-side check on a car you have already found. You are probably half in love with it. That is exactly the moment to borrow someone who is not.

What you send

The advert or listing, anything the seller has given you, and a sentence on why this one. That is enough to start.

What Alex does

Reads the advert like a seller wrote it, because one did. Checks the history, the registration record and the numbers that can be checked. Puts the questions to the seller that adverts are constructed to avoid. Compares the price against what the market has actually paid, not what forums hope. Flags the risks in plain order of severity.

What you get

A written view: pursue, pause or walk away, with the reasoning shown. If the car deserves an inspection, you will be told which kind and why, and it can be commissioned with the right independent specialist. If it deserves a negotiation, that comes next. If it deserves neither, you have just bought yourself out of a mistake for the price of a service.

What it costs

A fixed fee, agreed before work starts. If the review becomes a full acquisition through The Garage, the arrangement is set out before you instruct.

If you buy it

The review file becomes the first chapter of the car's file. Negotiation support, purchase coordination, transport and first servicing can follow under The Garage, if wanted.

Questions about Deal Review

How fast?

Usually within a few working days of receiving the listing and history. Auction deadlines are stated up front and accommodated where possible.

Is this a mechanical inspection?

No. It is the judgement layer that decides whether the car has earned one, and arranges the right one if so.

Will you talk to the seller?

Yes, with your agreement. Sellers answer differently when the questions are specific.

What if you find nothing wrong?

Then you buy with confidence, which was the product all along.

Jaguar XKR · before commitment

Cars were shortlisted several times, only for Alex to find paperwork discrepancies or unconvincing provenance. Eventually he found an example with exactly the spec I wanted, and viewed and inspected it on site for me.

Before emotion becomes commitment

Send the advert and the history. You will have a plain view, in writing, on whether to pursue, pause or walk away.
