Privacy Notice
This notice explains what personal data Davey & Daughters collects when you enquire or engage us, why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. The data controller is Alexander Davey, trading as Davey & Daughters. Contact: alex@daveyanddaughters.co.uk.
The information we collect
Identity and contact details: your name, address, email and telephone number. Verification material: proof of identity and source-of-funds information, where we need it to proceed with a purchase or to meet anti-money-laundering and legal duties. Engagement details: your vehicle requirements and budget, the cars we consider for you, inspection findings, and our correspondence with you. Transaction details: the records needed to invoice you and keep proper accounts. Website enquiries: the details you submit through the enquiry form on this site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
To perform our contract with you: carrying out the search, arranging inspections and logistics, and invoicing. Our legitimate interests: running, securing and improving the service, replying to enquiries, and keeping records of the work. To meet legal obligations: tax and accounting records, and identity and source-of-funds checks where the law requires them.
Who we share it with
We share your data only as far as needed to carry out the engagement: with independent inspectors, transporters and shipping or customs agents; with sellers and their agents where necessary to pursue a specific car; with our own professional advisers (such as our accountant or solicitor); and with authorities such as HMRC where we are required to. We do not sell your data or use it for unrelated marketing.
International transfers
Because the market is international, your data may be shared with parties outside the United Kingdom (including in the European Union and, where a car is located there, further afield). Where it is, we take reasonable steps to see that it remains adequately protected.
How long we keep it
We keep your data only as long as needed for the engagement and our relationship with you, and then for any period the law requires (for example, tax and transaction records are generally kept for six years). After that we delete or anonymise it.
Keeping it secure
We hold your data securely, limit access to it, and take reasonable measures to protect it against loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable form, in each case as the law allows. To exercise any of these, contact alex@daveyanddaughters.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or, if you are resident elsewhere, to your local supervisory authority.
